CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland State department of athletics and the Vikings Student-Athlete Advisory Council hosted over 100 Special Olympians from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District on Friday.
"This event is something that all of our student-athletes, coaches and staff look forward to each year," said Coordinator of Student-Athlete Affairs Lisa Hehman. "Our student-athletes can learn as much from the children as the children can learn from our student-athletes."
Cleveland State student-athletes and staff hosted the Special Olympians in Woodling Gym, working different stations, playing basketball, soccer and volleyball. The Special Olympians were also treated to pizza following the activities.
In addition, the department also collected peanut butter, which was donated to Lift Up Vikes, an on-campus resource center and food pantry.
