CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State senior women's soccer player Jessica McCloy has been named president of the 2009-10 Student Athlete Advisory Council. She will be joined on the board by vice president Angel Roque (women's basketball), secretary Kayla Lefeld (volleyball) and treasurer Anthony Sambula (baseball). "We have a brand new board and we are looking forward to new ideas and leadership this year," SAAC advisor Lisa Hehman said. "We will continue to develop the organizational structure of SAAC and function as a completely student run organization." Each of CSU's 17 varsity sports will have a SAAC representative that will be announced in August. The group is charged with discussing ongoing issues at CSU and around the country pertaining to intercollegiate athletics and the lives of student-athletes. The group meets monthly to share their views on different topics, including legislation in front of the NCAA and ongoing issues in the CSU Department of Athletics. Formed as a voice for CSU student-athletes, SAAC has successfully served not only the participants in intercollegiate athletics at CSU, but by creating a tie between Cleveland State and the community. |
