CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State Department of Athletics announced that Magnus is the name of the new CSU mascot. The announcement was made at the Nov. 24 men's basketball game against John Carroll in the Wolstein Center.

The name Magnus was decided by an online poll. The winning name was submitted multiple times, but by being the first to submit "Magnus," Lou Zappitelli was the winner of the contest. As the winner, Lou receives a prize package valued at $100.

In Latin, Magnus means "great" and is shared by many Norwegian and Danish kings.
