Brian Stone begins his second season as an assistant coach for the Cleveland State men's and women's fencing teams.

Stone, who fenced at Notre Dame from 1994-98, continues to oversee some of the organizational and administrative aspects of the Viking program.

As a collegian at Notre Dame, Stone earned first team All-America accolades as a senior in 1998. He placed fourth that year in epee at the NCAA Championships. He also was a member of the second-place epee squad in team competition.

Stone added to his impressive resume with a first-place finish at the 1998 Midwest Fencing Championships. He served as a team captain in each of his final two seasons in South Bend.

A native of Hackettstown, N.J., he graduated from Notre Dame in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and studio art.

Following graduation, Stone served for two years as an assistant coach for the Fighting Irish (1999-01). He then went on to work for one season as an assistant coach at Case Western Reserve before assuming the head coaching duties at Oberlin for the 2003-04 campaign.

Stone currently resides in Lakewood, Ohio.
