CLEVELAND - CSU got strong performances out of its men's foil team and women's saber squad as the Vikings tallied wins against Oberlin and Case Western Reserve. The men's team topped the Yeomen 14-8 and the Spartans 18-9, while the women took a 14-11 win from the Yeowomen and a 27-0 forfeit victory from the Spartans.

The 10th-ranked men's foil team went 17-1 in bouts on the day, with Omer Deleeuw, Tom Kotula and Mike Merker picking up a 9-0 win over Oberlin and an 8-1 victory over Case. The epee squad of Jeff Tormey and Dmitri Martynyuk also went 2-0 on the day, posting a 3-1 decision over the Yeomen and a 5-4 win over the Spartans.

The women's team got a strong showing from the sabre squad of Shilah Pratt and Katie Smetena against Oberlin, recording a 6-2 win in the Vikings' lone win on the floor.

The men's foil team closes out the regular season with a 23-4 record. The Vikings head to the Midwest Conference Championships on Feb. 26-27 at Notre Dame, Ind.
