Contact: Alan Ashby

Nov. 10, 2006

EASTON, Pa. - The Cleveland State fencing teams began the dual meet portion of their schedule with a bang, as the men defeated Lafayette (23-4) and Lehigh (21-6), while the women upended Lafayette (23-4).

"This was a great start to our dual meet season," CSU head coach Jim Sager said. "We came out with some intensity and took care of business tonight. We're looking forward to an even better performance on Sunday."

On the men's side, Liran Gross, Mike Merker and John Downey each posted perfect 6-0 marks, while Leigh Pendergrass and Heather Nguyen were a spotless 3-0 for the women.

The Vikings are in action again on Sunday (Nov. 12) as they take part in the Vassar Duals.
