Craig Moro is in his first season as an assistant baseball coach with the Cleveland State baseball program. He arrives at CSU after spending the last four years as the head coach at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio. Moro founded the NDC baseball program and was charged with building it from the ground up. During his time, he mentored two NAIA All-Americans, four NAIA All-Region and 20 all-conference players. In addition, he helped four players move on to play professional baseball. He led the Falcons to 21 wins in their first season, coming up two wins shy of earning a berth in the regional playoffs. His 2007 squad set school-records with 277 runs scored, 110 extra base hits and a .307 batting average. In addition to his coaching duties, Moro served as the NAIA Region IX Chair and was in charge of running the regional and super-regional playoffs. Moro is a 1997 graduate of Mount Union with degrees in psychology and physical education. He is currently pursuing his masters in sports science education. While at MUC, Moro was a four-year letterwinner as a catcher for the Purple Raiders, helping them to three appearances in the OAC Tournament. He batted .417 and threw out 55-percent of base stealers during his senior season. Moro, who was also a member of Mount Union's national championship football team, was awarded the OAC Bob Murphy Collegiate Baseball Award as a senior. He has also served as an assistant coach at Oberlin (2000-04) and the head coach at Lake Ridge Academy (1999). Moro was an assistant coach, working with pitchers and catchers, at Bay Village High in 1998 under current CSU assistant coach Cliff Cook. |
