Tim Spatz enters his second season as an assistant coach at Cleveland State. Spatz will once again work with the team's outfielders, while assisting with hitting instruction. Spatz came to CSU after serving as an assistant coach for 2006 state champion Strongsville High School. Spatz was the head coach at nearby Columbia High School from 2000-2004, winning conference championships in 2000 and 2003. He also coached wrestling at Columbia for two years, leading the team to a conference title in 2001. "Tim is a young and energetic coach who truly loves the game," CSU head coach Kevin Kocks said. "He comes from a winning background and we're glad to have him here at Cleveland State." Prior to coaching at Columbia, Spatz who coached several college summer teams in Ohio and won a state championship at St. Gregory Prep in Tucson, Ariz. in 1999. He also coached youth baseball in Berea, Ohio for 12 years. Spatz earned a bachelor's degree in education from Bowling Green State University in 1997. He also holds a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Ashland University in 2003. Spatz is single and has a son, Jacob (5). He resides in Berea, Ohio.
