LORAIN, Ohio - Ohio's Matt Stiffler and Chris Klimko each had three hits, Cleveland State committed five errors and lightning sent everyone home early as Ohio blanked CSU, 8-0, Tuesday night at Pipe Yard Stadium.

With two out and one on in the top of the sixth, umpires spotted lightning and sent the teams to the dugout, and after 35 minutes, home. The lightning prematurely ended what was a rough night for the Vikings.

Neither team established itself early, with the only scoring through three innings an unearned Bobcat run in the top of the first. Ohio (16-26) went up 2-0 in the fourth when Stiffler singled and scored.

CSU (10-31) then fell apart in the fifth, as Zach Hartle led off with a double and Cleveland State committed two errors that led to four runs and a 6-0 Ohio lead.

The Bobcats scored twice in the top of the sixth before lightning put a stop to things early.

Junior Bobby Cash went 2-for-3 to lead the Vikings. Sophomore Jeremy Hartman (0-3) took the loss, allowing six runs (three earned) over 4.2 innings. He allowed six hits, walked three and struck out three.

Ohio's Dan Weiss (3-5) worked all five shutout innings to pick up the win. He scattered four hits, walked two and struck out seven.

The Vikings they travel to Duquesne for a 3:00 p.m. contest on Wednesday.
