AVON, Ohio - Junior Coty Bates threw five effective innings and redshirt freshman Bob Suitca continued his torrid hitting in helping the Green team even the CSU Fall World Series at one game apiece with a 10-4 victory on Friday evening at All Pro Freight Stadium.
Bates allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, while totaling five strikeouts against one walk and three hit batsmen. Suitca went 2-for-4 with a homerun and four runs batted in. Sophomore Tyler Wynn and freshman Brent Casto each went 3-for-5 and finished a home run shy of the cycle with a single, double and triple making up their hits.
Freshman Kris Hall came on in relief of Bates, giving up one unearned run in 1 2/3 innings with five strikeouts and two walks.
Sophomore Nate Blankemeyer took the loss for the Grey squad, giving up seven runs (five earned) on eight hits in five innings of work. Blankemeyer gave up eight hits and posted six strikeouts against two walks.
Freshmen Brandon Cooper had a two run single and freshman Joe Lauria went two for three with two runs scored to lead the Grey team offensively. Junior Tom Carter added a single and RBI to round out the Grey team's offensive output.
