Day 8 in Europe... Low Key as Final Game Looms

PARIS, France – Today is our second to last day of the European foreign tour and we play our fifth and final game tonight at 8:30 p.m. against Juvissy.

Today was a free day for the group to go out on our own and explore. Some people did some shopping, others just walked around to some of the sites, while others went out to buy some souvenirs for people back home and some just relaxed. After all, the team will be playing its fifth game in six days tonight. The team also had a meeting this afternoon before our pre-game meal, which was chicken and french fries as opposed to chicken and pasta like each of the previous four.

I ventured out with Lisa Hehman and her now fiancé, Kevin, to see the Louvre. What should have been about a 20 minute walk from the hotel turned into an hour stroll after we took a wrong turn. But hey, we got to see a little more of Paris!!

We drove through the Louvre on the bus tour yesterday, but being able to walk around the courtyard and see just how large the structure is was amazing. Kevin and I were talking and we are not sure that anything like that can even be built today. It is quite a site.

We did not get to go into the actual building as time was running short, but head athletic trainer Chris Lacsamana and his wife did go in. When we ran into them back at the hotel, Chris said they spent three hours in the Louvre… on the first floor!! They did get to see the Mona Lisa, which had to be quite an experience.

As I said earlier, tonight is our final game as the team tries to finish the trip with a perfect 5-0 record. It has been great getting a chance to see this group of guys come together both on and off the court over the last week. There is a lot of chemistry and bonding going on and that should carry over to the 2013-14 season.

Tomorrow morning is some more free time for the group before a boat tour on the Siene River at 4:00 p.m. followed by dinner.
