Tyree Appleby Signs NLI With Cleveland State

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Tyree Appleby (Jacksonville, Ark./Jacksonville), a four-time all-conference selection and three-time all-state honoree, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Cleveland State and play basketball beginning with the 2017-18 academic year.

"We are very excited to welcome Tyree to our program," CSU head coach Dennis Felton said. "He is a very talented, dynamic and confident player who is equally comfortable scoring and making plays for others. We love dynamic guards and Tyree is gifted with unique quickness and explosiveness to make plays. With the help and leadership of our returning players, Tyree has the opportunity to be a terrific contributor to our team."

The 6-foot-1 point guard was ranked among the top-10 ranked players in Arkansas this season and will provide the Vikings with depth in the backcourt with his athleticism, ability to score in multiple ways and distribute the basketball.

Appleby earned all-state honors in each of his final three seasons and was also the conference Newcomer of the Year as a freshman.

As a senior, Appleby averaged 25.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists, while earning the McDonalds Full Court Award. He was also named to a pair of all-tournament teams and was named the MVP of the Metro Classic All-Star game, scoring a game-high 32 points with eight three-pointers in the second half.

Appleby averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists during his junior year and 11.2 points and 4.5 assists as a sophomore. He also earned the McDonalds Full Court Award both years. He averaged 8.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists during his freshman season.

Appleby's older brother, Raheem, was a first team All-Conference USA performer at Louisiana Tech and scored more than 1,700 career points.
