Despite battling serious knee injuries that has limited his availability during his two years at CSU, Amadou Koundoul has emerged as the emotional leader of the team. He has developed the knack for picking up the squad's level of play through his all out effort on the court and his verbal encouragement of his teammates. When healthy, his passing and rebounding ability offer an added dimension to the interior game. His availability for the 2004-05 season is in question following off-season knee surgery.

2003-04 SEASON:
• Limited all season following offseason surgery for patellar tendonitis but managed to see action in 27 of the 29 games.
• Set his career scoring high in consecutive games around the holiday break, making all three field goals for six points vs. Georgia Southern on Dec. 29.
• Tallied five points at Boston University on Dec. 22, converting two-of-three field goal attempts, including a three-pointer.
• Scored four points with a career-high six rebounds, all in the first half, at Norfolk State (Dec. 13)
• Posted three points with a block vs. Utah Valley State (Dec. 6).
• Scored four points with two rebounds at Florida A&M (Nov. 25).
• Grabbed two rebounds with an assist in seven minutes vs. Central State (Nov. 22).

CLEVELAND STATE CAREER:
• Struggled all season with patellar tendonitis, playing in just two games for a total of four minutes.
• Played three minutes, missing a three-pointer, against Bowling Green in the Balance Bar Rock-N-Roll Shootout at Gund Arena.
• After off-season rehabilitation did not alleviate problems, underwent surgery in June, 2003.

PRE-CLEVELAND STATE:
• Played one season for coach Pete Norman at Highland Community College.
• Played during the 2000-01 season at Vincennes (Ind.) Junior College, helping team to a 27-6 record, including a 10-2 league mark.
• Active in many sports while attending school in France, playing as a midfielder in soccer for two years along with volleyball for two seasons and wrestling and handball for one year each.
