Frashon McGee is happy to be healthy again. Limited during most of his junior season by a broken right hand suffered early in the year, McGee could never display the wide-array of offensive skills that made him one of the jewels of the recruiting class. A natural leader both on and off the court, he will serve as team co-captain this season. On the court, he uses his 6-6 frame to score and rebound inside while displaying the ball handling and passing skills to be effective along the perimeter. His long-range shooting accuracy -- he shot 42 percent from three-point in junior college -- gives an added dimension to an already potent offensive game.
2004-05 SEASON:
Started 11 of the 22 games that he played in, averaging 6.5 points and 4.0 rebounds as a starter.
Averaged 5.3 points and 3.6 rebounds a game in 19.0 minutes, shooting .473 from the field (43-91).
Came off the bench to score a career-high 13 points --all in the first half -- with six rebounds at UIC (March 1) in the league tourney.
Scored 10 points vs. UW-Green Bay (Feb. 3), making two three-pointers.
Tallied nine points with a career-high seven rebounds against Butler (Jan. 27).
Scored eight points at UW-Milwaukee (Jan. 20), going 4-for-4 from the foul line.
Earned first career start against Youngstown State (Jan. 8), scoring four points with three rebounds.
Returned to the lineup at Wright State after missing four games with a broken right hand suffered against Kent State (Dec. 11).
Scored nine points vs. Kent State (Dec. 11), going 3-for-3 from the field.
Scored seven points with two blocks vs. Clarion (Dec. 2).
PRE-CLEVELAND STATE CAREER:
Honorable mention All-America choice as a sophomore at Des Moines Area Community College, playing for coach Orv Soloman.
Averaged 14.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists as a sophomore to garner first team all-league and all-region honors.
Shot .515 from the field (190-369), .420 from three-point (47-112) and .661 from the line (37-56), adding 69 blocks, 68 steals and a 1.79 assist-to-turnover ratio (120 assists, 67 turnovers).
Guided team to a 27-6 record and the regional finals of the national tournament.
Played his freshman season at Indian Hills College in Ottumwa, Iowa, averaging 3.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in a reserve role before breaking his wrist early in the season.
Nominee for McDonald's All-America team as a senior at Waterloo East High, helping team to a 20-5 record and the title game of the state tourney.
First team all-state choice as a senior by the Des Moines Register, being tabbed as the city MVP along with all-conference and all-district kudos.
Second team all-state and first team all-conference and all-district pick after leading team to a 23-3 record as a junior.
