Cleveland State vs. Loyola

Feb. 1, 2007

Cleveland State Head Coach Gary Waters: "Our kids played hard...I really thought they played hard. But we didn't make good decisions down the stretch. Until we make better decisions, this is what the outcome will be."

On The Play Of Renard Fields: "I thought Renard became a man today. He does it in practice but he's sometimes hesitant in games. He really brecame a presence."

On Shutting Loyola Down In The Second Half: "I thought we played great defense the first ten minutes of the second half. We held them to something like 10 percent over a long stretch. That's how we got back into the game."

On CSU's Improvement: "We're getting better. We're doing some good things. We have had some chances to get some wins, but we just didn't pull it out. That's no consolation. I want `W's.' But I told our guys we're doing some really good things."

Cleveland State Forward Renard Fields: "I felt comefortable on defense. I kept getting in the right position to get rebounds and make blocks. I fit right into our system."

Loyola Head Coach Jim Whitesell: "It was a hard fought game and a story of two halves. Everything went our way in the first half and Cleveland State couldn't do anything, but in the second half it was completely oppostive. We were fortunate to win. It could have gone either way at the end."

On Cleveland State's Defensive Work On Star Blake Schilb: "We just couldn't get him started. I'm not sure why. We posted him and ball-screened him. There was a stretch where I thought he was going to get going. I give Cleveland State credit for how they bottled him up."
