CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland State sophomore forward J'Nathan Bullock, who last year became only the fifth freshman to lead the team in scoring, has been named to the 2006-07 Horizon League Preseason second team, which was determined in voting of the league coaches, sports information directors and media representatives from each league school.

In addition, Cleveland State was picked to finish nine in the league in the annual preseason poll. The preseason poll and all-league teams were announced by the Horizon League office.

"I don't believe that where we have been picked is reflective of where we are as a program," head coach Gary Waters said. "It is based upon where we have been.

"Our guys are hungry to achieve success. They've been working very hard towards putting themselves in a position to win and I believe that we are capable of good things this year."

Loyola, which finished third last season, received 31 of the 43 first place votes and 373 points to become thefavorite to win the league title, edging second place UW-Green Bay (8, 334).

Detroit was picked third (286 points, 3 first place votes), followed by UIC in fourth (231), Wright State in fifth (217), Butler in sixth (201, 1), defending champion UW-Milwaukee in seventh (145), Youngstown State in eighth (116) and the Vikings last (76).

Bullock, a 6-5, 240-pound forward from Flint, Mich., started 22 of the 28 games that he played in a year ago, averaging 11.3 points and 4.5 rebounds a game. He recorded 17 double figure scoring games, including three double-doubles, and set a CSU freshman record with 20 free throw attempts against Kent State.

"This is a nice honor for J'Nathan," Waters said. "He is one of the best all-around athletes on our team which means that he will be one of the corp players who we will count on heavily this year."

Cleveland State, which plays its lone exhibition game against Slippery Rock on Tuesday, Noc. 7), will open the 2006-07 season at home against 2006 Final Four participant George Mason on Nov. 11.
