March 19, 2007

AVON, Ind. - Cleveland State leads Cincinnati by five strokes heading into the final round of the Butler Spring Invitational. The Vikings, who shot a 294 (+6) at the par 72, 6,885-yard Prestwick Country Club, were led by junior Doug Barber's one-under 71.

IUPUI's Brandon Smart leads the race for medalist after an opening round 70. Barber is just a shot back while sophomore Jake Scott is in third place at 72.

Oakland sits in third place at 300, while UW-Green Bay and IUPUI are tied for fourth at 301.

"Everyone played pretty steady despite sitting through the two-hour rain delay," CSU head coach Brian Varsey said. "We need to stay focused tomorrow and take care of the small things to stay on top."

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday, with the Vikings teeing off between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
