BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Cleveland State carded a final round 288, the lowest round of the tournament, and moved up one slot to finish in fourth place at the 54-hole John Piper Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon.

The event was played at the par-72, 7,064-yard Sand Ridge Golf Club.

Senior Jake Scott shot a 71 in today's final round to finish tied for fourth place (72-73-71 - 216). Kent Monas carded a team-best 70 today and wound up tied for ninth (73-79-70 - 222).

CSU's strong finish as a team helped propel the Vikings into fourth place in the 13-team tournament with a three-round total of 884. The Vikings finished just one shot behind third place Bowling Green (883) and two shots back of second place Eastern Kentucky (882).

Ohio won the team title with a 54-hole score of 878.

The Vikings entered Tuesday's final round in fifth place following rounds of 294 and 302 on Monday. CSU was six shots out of third place heading into the final day and quickly made those up with a fast start as the Vikings were six-under-par after 14 holes.

CSU cooled off down the stretch, finishing even-par for the round, but the Vikings still managed to jump ahead of Detroit. The Titans finished seven shots behind CSU in fifth place.

"Even par is always a great score to shoot," head coach Steve Weir said. "We were so close to putting together a special round and making a run at first or second place, but we gave back a few shots coming in. We played the 18th at six-over as a team.

"We are so close to putting it all together and I saw some very encouraging signs today that I hope we can carry over to Kansas next week."

The Vikings will return to action next Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 15-16) when CSU competes in the 54-hole Kansas Invitational. The two-day event will be played at the par-72, 7,092-yard Alvamar Golf Club in Lawrence, Kan.
