Men's Golf Places 12th At Ironhorse Intercollegiate

TUSCOLA, Ill. - The Cleveland State men's golf team earned a 12th-place finish at the Ironhorse Intercollegiate hosted by Eastern Illinois. Playing on Monday and Tuesday at the par 72 Ironhorse Golf Club in Tuscola, Ill., the Vikings put together rounds of 307, 305 and 334 for a total of 946. Western Illinois took home the team title with a 914 (287-298-329). Freshman Mike Rutgers (Kingsville, Ontario/Cardinal Carter) led the Vikings with a 230 (74-79-77) to finish in a tie for 13th. Senior Billy Houle (Joilette, Quebec/Georges Vanier) tied for 34th with a 237, while Jim Weikamp (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) posted a 240 to finish tied for 49th. Eastern Illinois' Dustin Sloat claimed medalist honors with a 219 (71-69-79). Cleveland State closes out its fall schedule when the Vikings travel to East Carolina for the Pirate Fall Invitational Oct. 20-21.
