A final-round score of 300 was good enough for Cleveland State to finish 15 strokes ahead of its nearest competitor and win the Cleveland State Intercollegiate. The Vikings held off a charging Malone College to earn the team's first tournament title since the Ohio Collegiate Classic in April of 2000 and first ever title in the CSU Intercollegiate. CSU combined to card a 297-151-300---748 in the shortened 45-hole tournament, held at Legend Lake Golf Club in Chardon, Ohio.

A quartet of Vikings linksters monopolized the top four spots in the standings. Junior Christian Komsa (Tecumseh, Ontario/E.J. Brennen) and sophomore Billy Houle (Joilette, Quebec/Georges Vanier) took a share of the title with scores of 75-37-74---186 and 73-39-74---186, respectively. Juniors Lyle Wilkens (Bloemfontein, South Africa/Grey College) and P.J. Myers (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) finished two strokes behind the leaders to tie for third overall. Wilkens carded a 73-39-76---188 while Myers scored a 76-36-76---188.

Sophomore Mike Bognar (Seven Hills, Ohio/Normandy) rounded out the Viking attack, finishing in a tie for 20th with a 78-40-78-196.

Freshmen Bill Schaefer (Independence, Ohio/Independence) and Mike Kearns (Avon Lake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) finished first and second as individuals and 20th and 25th overall, respectively. Schaefer shot a 77-38-81---196, Kearns posted a 80-44-76---200.

The first- and third-place honors all marked career-best tournament finishes for Komsa, Houle, Wilkens and Myers.

Wisconsin-Green Bay (766), Youngstown State (770), Butler (772) and Chicago State (997) followed up CSU and Malone in the final standings.

The Cleveland State Intercollegiate concludes the spring season for the Vikings. Next up on the schedule is the Horizon League Championships, hosted by Wisconsin-Green Bay at Green Bay Country Club on April 29-30.
