CLEVELAND, OH - Cleveland State golfers Jake Scott and Kent Monas continued a strong summer for Viking golfers as they tied for second place at the 15th Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship over the weekend at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Brecksville.

Scott, a native of Strongsville and the defending tournament champion, shot rounds of 73-71-70 (214), while Monas, who will be a freshman at CSU this fall, fired rounds of 69-71-74 (214).

The duo finished two shots behind ex-CSU golfer Brad Steven (72-68-72; 212), who won the title for the second time. He also won in 1996.

Scott will now turn his attention to the U.S. Amateur Championship which will take place from Aug. 20-26 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.
