Aug. 14, 2006 WILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio - Jake Scott added to Cleveland State's already strong summer showing by winning the 14th Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship at Manakiki Golf Course on Sunday (Aug. 13). The rising sophomore carded back-to-back 69s over the weekend to win by four strokes. Last year, Steve Weir fired a final-round 65 to also win the title by four strokes. Playing in the final group with former CSU golfers Norton Brick ('75) and Brad Steven ('90), Scott put together five birdies and two bogeys en route to his three-under par score in the final round, finishing the 54-hole event at three-under par (213). Rising seniors Mike Rutgers and Ben Grandy finished in a tie for fifth at 221. Earlier this summer, Rutgers won both the Northeast Ohio Amateur Invitational and Western Ontario Amateur titles, defending his 2005 win in the latter event.
