John Harr enters his second season as an assistant coach with the Cleveland State men's soccer program. Harr brings a wealth of soccer knowledge and experience with head coach Pete Curtis' system with him to the Viking program, having spent time playing for Curtis at the University of Charleston (W. Va.).

Harr also enjoyed a steller playing career with the University of South Carolina, where he served as team captain during both his junior and senior seasons. Harr played three seasons in Columbia after transferring from the University of Charleston.

In his three years with the Gamecocks, Harr tallied 28 goals and 20 assists, good for 76 points. His best season statistically came during his sophomore campaign, when he collected 31 points on 13 goals and five assists to lead the team in scoring. During his sophomore season, he scored three goals to lead the Gamecocks to a 4-0 upset over No. 20 San Diego. Harr, a native of Sarpsborg, Norway, was second on the team in scoring during both his junior and senior seasons, scoring 25 points as a junior and 20 during his final season. He was also named to the All-Independent First Team as a junior, the first year of the award. Harr currently ranks 11th on South Carolina's career scoring list with 76 points. He was a member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, along with being named to the Dean's Honor List in 1997, 1998 and 2000 at South Carolina.

Harr graduated from South Carolina in May of 2000 with a degree in finance and a specialization in international business.
