Men's Soccer Tops Robert Morris, 1-0

Sept. 4, 2001

Box Score

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Junior defender Matt Milcetich (Ravenna, Ohio/Kent Roosevelt) headed in his first career goal as Cleveland State defeated Robert Morris, 1-0, in soccer action this afternoon. The tally came on a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Josh Lidala (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South) at the 37:02 mark of the first half. The win was the 100th of head coach Pete Curtis' career. Now in his 12th season, Curtis' record now stands at 100-102-11.

Senior goalkeeper James Kryger (St. Catharines, Ontario/Governor Simcoe) made the goal stand up with two saves for the first shutout of his career. In addition, it was the first time the Vikings blanked an opponent since defeating Loyola Chicago, 4-0, on Oct. 11, 1998 -- a span of 42 contests.

CSU won despite being out-shot 13-11, although the Colonials only managed to put two on goal, while the Vikings fired five at the net. In addition, Robert Morris held a distinct, 13-6, edge in corner kicks.

CSU is in action again when it travels to Ann Arbor on Friday, Sept. 7 to face Michigan at 7:00 p.m.
