The Cleveland State men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Butler Sunday in Horizon League play. Butler outshot Cleveland State, 37-3.

"The guys showed a lot of character and guts today," coach Pete Curtis said after the match. "They kept working and fighting certainly did not quit. There was a lot of togetherness and we walk off the field today with our heads high."

Butler scored first in the 43rd minute, as senior defender Cameron Husty inadvertently kicked the ball into CSU's own net, an own goal that gave Butler an early lead. David Prentice was given his second yellow card thirty second following the goal, forcing the Vikings to play with just 10 players for the rest of the match.

"Considering we played the entire second half a man down, I thought we did well," Curtis commented. "We had a couple of chances in the second half, and in one instance their goalie made a save off his leg that stopped a hooking shot from Spencer Lappin. A number of guys gave strong displays in the match for us today."

Amir Kettani played a stellar game in goal for the Vikings, stopping 13 shots and one penalty kick.

"Amir handled all their long distance chances very well," Curtis noted. "He was outstanding in everything he did."

The Vikings have the week off before traveling to take on UW-Milwaukee on Sunday, Oct. 31st at 1:00 p.m.
