Vikings Fall At Bowling Green, 3-2

Nov. 3, 2002

Final Stats

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green (5-12-0) erased a 1-0 halftime deficit with three unanswered goals and held on for a 3-2 victory over Cleveland State (8-10-0) Sunday afternoon. Many of the Viking starters sat out the regular season finale due to nagging injuries and yellow card concerns.

Freshman Adrian Balc (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) showed that he has recovered from a midseason knee injury by opening the scoring at the 16:08 mark to give CSU a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Cameron Husty (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison) picked up the assist on Balc's eighth goal of the season.

The Falcons knotted the score just 96 seconds into the second stanza on a goal by Paul Dhaliwal. BGSU then took the lead three minutes later, when Ben Monnette found the back of the net. Deryck Freudeman then scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 70th minute.

In the 87th minute, freshman Barry McGuire scored his first career goal on a feed from Balc to draw the Vikings within one. However, CSU could not get the equalizer in the final three minutes.

Cleveland State is in action again on Saturday, November 9 when it hosts UW-Green Bay in a Horizon League Quarterfinal match beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Krenzler Field. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
