CHICAGO, Ill. - Cleveland State captured first place in the 400 medley relay and senior Chris Dalman won the one-meter dive with a score of 341.85 to keep the Vikings in second place after the second day of the Horizon League Championships. CSU has 268.5 team points, second to Just one day after setting a school record in the 200 medley relay, the Vikings edged Dalman, the favorite in both diving events coming into the meet, won the one-meter by over 40 points over second place Mark Pappalardo from UIC. Junior Dan Baiko had a solid performance, placing third in the event with a 282.95.
"We're happy that we closed the gap quite a bit in the team standings," head coach Wally Morton said. "Chris (Dalman) was strong and we had some good performances in the medley relays. Jakub Dobies had some very good splits." Senior Bjorn Schantz helped cut into the Dobies also registered a second place swim, clocking a 1:50.85 in the 200 IM. Junior Dave Duecker placed fourth in the event with a time of 1:52.81 while sophomore Stef Potgieter finished ninth (1:57.24). A trio of Vikings also placed in the 50 free, led by sophomore Marko Milenkovic, who tied for fifth in 21:07. Freshman Stephen Grove (21.32) and junior Johan Norling (21.32) finished eighth and ninth, respectively. Day three of the Horizon League Championships at UIC begins Friday at |
