CLEVELAND, Ohio - Senior diver Dan Baiko was named Horizon League diver of the week for the third time this season following a dominant performance in a quad meet held Sat. Jan. 12 that saw him sweep the 1-meter and 2-meter dives for the fifth time this season. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday (Jan. 15) afternoon.

Baiko's score in the 1-meter (257.93) and 3-meter (343.8) were nearly 200 points better in each event than his next closest competitors in the meet. His 3-meter score is his second best mark this season, and according to diving coach Rich Karban, he had two of his highest scoring individual 3-meter dives this season.

"He did a great job in the three," Karban said, "Coming right off the holiday break this was a great first performance, and it's very good to see."

Baiko's wins in both diving events helped the men's team to a sweep of Xavier, Canisius, and Duquesne. Baiko was the only member of the team to score wins in two events.

Sophomore Todd Winchell of the men's team and senior Lesley Jones of the women's team also received honorable mention for their performances on Saturday. Winchell won the 100 yard butterfly (51.80) and led off the winning 200 medley relay (1:37.12, 25.76 split), while Jones finished third in the 100 free (55.17) and helped the 200 free relay to a third place finish.

The men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to action this Saturday, Jan. 19 against Horizon League foe Wright State, set to begin at 2:00 p.m. EST.
