Grove Selected U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State junior men's swimmer Stephen Grove has been selected as the U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month for October.

The league office made the announcement on Friday (Nov. 7) afternoon.

Grove had an outstanding start to the 2008-09 season, tallying one first place finish, two runner-up finishes and two third place finishes at the Notre Dame Dennis Stark Relays on Oct. 3.

He then won three events at Green Bay (Oct. 25), claiming the 50 freestyle and being part of the winning 400 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams. Grove concluded the month of October by winning the 100 freestyle and swimming the leadoff leg on the 200 freestyle relay team that took first place in a dual versus Canisius (Oct. 31). He also earned a second place finish in the 50 freestyle.

A native of West Chester, Ohio, Grove carries a 3.88 grade point average as an engineering major.

The Vikings will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 7, when CSU travels to Youngstown, Ohio for a dual against Niagara.
