Dec. 4, 2002 CLEVELAND - Cleveland State swimmers Samantha Jones (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa/Pietermaritzburg) and Warren Vickers (Durban, South Africa/Durban) both garnered Horizon League Swimmer of the Week honors for their performances against Ohio State on Nov. 26. This is the second time Jones has been recognized by the league this season, while Vickers joins Andrew Hancock (Cambridge Gardens, Australia/St. Mary's) as honorees this year on the men's side. Vickers won both the 100 free (46.63) and 200 free (1:40.20) in the Vikings' loss to Ohio State. His 200 free time was the fastest in CSU dual meet history. Jones won the 100 back (59.73) and placed fourth in the 200 free (2:02.10) versus the Buckeyes. Her 100 back time was the fastest in the Horizon League so far this year.
Cleveland State is in action again this week when the Vikings travel down Interstate 77 to compete in the Akron Invitational Dec. 5-7. The meet gets underway in the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
