CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second straight year, the Cleveland State men's tennis team swept the Singles and Doubles titles at the Viking Invitational, with Nico Mostardi claiming the singles crown and the duo of Mostardi and Benjamin Slade capturing the doubles title.
Mostardi, who is now the three-time Viking Invitational singles champion, picked up his title with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Binghamton's Ludovico Cestarollo in the final match. Mostardi earned an appearance in the championship contest after picking up a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Butler's Mason Dragos in the semifinals earlier Sunday morning. For the weekend, Mostardi posted a 5-0 record, improving to 8-4 this fall.
In the doubles main draw, Mostardi and Slade captured their title with a 6-2 victory over a Youngstown State duo. The Viking tandem went 4-0 on the weekend to capture the title.
Bilinovich picked up his wins over Earl Hsieh (6-3, 6-4) and Anthony Kanam (6-2, 6-0) who were both playing unattached, while Teichmann earned a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0(6) victory over Binghamton's Valentin Bouchet and a 6-7, 6-4, 1-0(11) victory over Butler's Ryan Roegner.
For the weekend, Teichmann went 5-1, while Bilinovich notched a 4-2 singles record.
This marked the final fall tournament for the Vikings, with their dual match opener slated for Friday, January 25 at Penn.
