BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Yannick Goossens and John Haley both won their singles flights and Goossens and Chris Klepatz finished fourth in their doubles flight on the final day of the Indiana Invitational on Sunday.

Goossens and Haley became the first Viking players to win singles flights at the IU Invitational.

"Both Goose and Haley had outstanding tournaments and it's great to see them win their respective flights," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "I thought overall we played some great tennis this weekend and were able to get good results. We are not where we need to be in terms of mental and physical shape, but that will come as we continue to play more and more."

Goossens defeated Dimitrije of Indiana in Sunday's final, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, to earn the overall title.

"Goose played one of the best matches of his career today," Etzkin said. "He won three of his four singles matches this weekend in three sets so he really had to battle hard. He showed a lot of maturity and is ready to take a step to the next level as an elite player."

Haley defeated Brandon McDonald of Xavier, 6-3, 6-4, in the finals of flight three.

"John was really on his game all weekend," Etzkin said. "He really played smart tennis and was able to mix and match his game to win the championship. He had a fire in his eye and played with a lot of intensity."

Goossens teamed with Chris Klepatz in the top half of the doubles draw, claiming fourth place with an 8-3 setback today.

"I saw some good things in doubles this weekend," Etzkin said. "I am going to try and mix and match some things throughout the fall to see what we can put together in terms of doubles teams.

"Overall, this was a very successful weekend and I think it shows that we have a lot of talent and depth up and down the roster. I thought we were one of the strongest teams at the tournament and if we continue to work hard, good things will come our way."

The Vikings continue their early season fall schedule when CSU competes at the Ball State Cardinal Classic from Friday through Sunday (Sept. 24-26).
