    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State sophomore Yannick Goossens and junior Sanda Bjelan have been named Horizon League Tennis Players of the Week for the period of Feb. 1-7, as announced by the league office on Tuesday (Feb. 9) afternoon.

    Goossens, a native of The Hague, Holland, helped the Vikings go 2-0 over the weekend with a 7-0 win at Niagara and a 6-1 victory at St. Bonaventure.

    He posted a win at No. 1 singles against Niagara (6-2, 6-7, 6-2), his first-ever appearance in the top slot in a dual, and scored another victory at No. 2 singles over St. Bonaventure (6-2, 6-7, 6-2). Goosens also paired with Chris Klepatz at No. 2 doubles to register 8-5 wins over both Niagara and SBU.

    Goossens and the Vikings are now 5-1 this season.

    Bjelan, a native of Bad Ragaz, Switzerland, went 4-0 on the weekend with two wins at No. 3 singles and two more at No. 3 doubles. She recorded a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Niagara on Saturday and a 6-3, 6-3 win at St. Bonaventure on Sunday. Bjelan also teamed with Molly Drake to register an 8-1 win over St. Bonaventure.

    Her efforts helped the Vikings to a 7-0 win at Niagara and a 6-1 triumph over SBU, allowing CSU to improve to 2-4 this season.

    Both the men's and women's tennis teams are back in action on Friday (Feb. 12) when the Vikings travel to IPFW. the men's match is slated to begin at 8:00 a.m. with the women's contest scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
