Follow CSU on TWITTER CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's tennis team will conclude their fall schedule this weekend, as the Vikings are set to participate in the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Championship. The championship will take place from Thursday, October 13 through Monday, October 17 at the Varsity Tennis Center and Jesse Owens West Tennis Center on the Ohio Sate campus. The Vikings will have two players in the main draw, Ali Shabib and Yannick Goossens, while Matt Kuelker, Jorg Van Der Vloet, Nolan Marks, Matt Ford and Jay Jones will represent CSU in the qualifier draw. Shabib will face Bruno Abdelnour of Illinois in his first round match of the main draw, and Goossens will face Wyatt McCoy of Notre Dame in his first round match. Kuelker, who is the No. 7 seed in the qualifier bracket, will face Christian Roehmer of Michigan State in his opening match. Vloet will begin play against Toledo's Tomas Stillman, Marks will open against Alex Teppart of Wisconsin, Ford will face Max Schmerin of Youngstown State and Jones will open against Detroit's Mike Basha. In doubles action the Vikings will be led by the duo of Goossens and Shabib, as they earned the No. 11 seed and will face a team from DePaul in their opening match. In other opening doubles matches, Jones and Ford will face a team from Michigan State, Kuelker and Vloet will face a duo from Notre Dame and Marks and Ben Shklyar will face a team from Wisconsin. All of the opening matches in the qualifier draw will be played on Thursday (Oct. 13) morning, with the second round to follow in the afternoon. The first round of the main draw will begin Friday (Oct. 14) afternoon, while the first round of the doubles draw will begin Friday evening. The Midwest Regional will serve as a precursor to the prestigious USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship Nov. 3-6 at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. "National Indoors" features the nation's top men's and women's collegiate tennis players in a 32-player singles field and 20-team doubles field.
