CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Nick Corba of the Cleveland State University wrestling team cracked the top 20 in Trackwrestling's weekly rankings in the organization's release Tuesday afternoon.
Corba sits 20th in in Trackwrestling's 184-pound rankings after a strong start to the 2016-17 season.
Corba picked up six wins without suffering a defeat on the opening weekend of CSU's 2016-17 season. He began his season with a win by fall in the first weight class contested in a dual-meet win at John Carroll. The veteran then won all five of his matches to claim the Open 184 title at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open. He posted a technical fall and a 14-1 major decision win en route to a semifinal berth before taking down wrestlers from Kent State in both the semifinal and championship bouts.
There are currently wrestlers from three schools ranked ahead of Corba at 184 that Cleveland State will be facing in dual meet action, including Ohio State's Myles Martin, who currently sits third in the rankings.
Cleveland State will next be in action next Tuesday, Nov. 22, in a tri-dual at Kent State that also features Ohio State.
