EVANSTON, Ill. - Both of CSU's remaining wrestlers had short days in Day 2 of the Midlands Invitational as sophomore Victer Crenshaw and senior David Gilkey were each eliminated just one round short of placing. Crenshaw finishes the tournament 3-2 while Gilkey was 2-2. The Vikings were tied for 16th in the team standings when they bowed out of the tournament.

Crenshaw (14-5), who had won three straight matches after a first-round loss yesterday, fell 4-3 to Iowa State's Jason Knipp for a chance to compete in the eighth place match at 157 pounds. The 184-pound Gilkey (12-8) lost, 7-3, to former Viking standout Gerald Harris after winning two of three bouts yesterday.

"Victer and David both lost hard fought matches," head coach Jack Effner said. "We learned some lessons and got some great experience in this tournament that will help us in the second half of the season."
