Evanston, Illinois - Rashard Goff takes sixth place at the Midlands Invitational, becoming the first Viking in six years to place at the Midlands Invitational on Tuesday (12/30) night.

His semi final match squared him off with the third ranked heavyweight in the country, Mark Ellis of Missouri. After three periods both men were able to score one escape point a piece and went in to overtime with a 1-1 score. In the sudden victory period however, Ellis scored two quick points to get the 3-1 win.

Goff's following match put him up against Dom Bradley, also from Missouri. The senior heavyweight once again was locked in to a 2-2 tie after three periods, but was unable to gain any momentum in the extra period and dropped a close match 4-2.

His final match of the tournament was battle with 18 ranked Dan Erekson of Iowa. In a close scoring, grueling match late in the third period, Erekson scored a takedown and was able to pull out a 7-3 decision, giving Goff a sixth place finish.

Cleveland State returns to action Saturday, January 3 when they host a quad meet. The Vikings will compete against Buffalo, Gardner-Webb and the University of Northern Iowa. Action is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. in Woodling Gym.
