INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State senior Kailey Klein, who averaged 28.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in a pair of Viking wins last week, has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and ninth time in her career.

The league office made the announcement on Monday (March 1) afternoon.

Klein's nine career honors tie her for the second most all-time, one shy of former Milwaukee standout Traci Edwards who received the award 10 times.

"This is a well-deserved honor for Kailey and is a testament to what she has been able to accomplish throughout her entire career," head coach Kate Peterson Abiad said. "She has been on a tear over the last three to four weeks, playing at such a high level during that stretch."

In Thursday's (Feb. 25) win over then league-leading Detroit, Klein torched the Titans for 32 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Vikings to a 70-60 overtime win. The 32 points were one shy of equaling her career-high.

She hit 8-of-17 from the field and sank 15-of-16 from the free throw line.

Two days later (Feb. 27), Klein came back with 25 points and a career-high tying 14 rebounds to lead the Vikings past Wright State, 63-52, on Senior Day. It was her 15th career double-double and ninth this season. She made 8-of-16 from the field and hit all eight of her free throw attempts.

The 57 points in two games last week extended her CSU career scoring record to 1,993 points. Klein is now just seven points shy of becoming the third player in Horizon League history to score 2,000 career points.

Klein continues to lead the league in scoring average (17.7), while ranking six in rebounds per game (7.6).

Cleveland State, 15-12 overall and 10-6 in league play, wraps up the regular season at Milwaukee on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. ET and at Green Bay on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET.

The Vikings can secure a top four seed and quarterfinal home game with one win this week.
