INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After helping Cleveland State split two games at the Caribbean Challenge over the Thanksgiving holiday, Cleveland State senior Jessica Roque has been honored as the Horizon League Player of the Week.

The league office made the announcement on Monday (Nov. 30) afternoon.

It is the first time that Roque has earned the honor in her career.

"This is a well deserved honor for Jess," head coach Kate Peterson Abiad said. "She has been playing so well for us during the early part of the season and gave us a spark in the final minutes of the Iona game by hitting several clutch shots. Jess is the consummate team player and it is great to see her being honored for her play."

The Mississauga, Ontario, native averaged 19.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds in two games in Cancun, Mexico, last week. She hit 12-of-20 (.600) from the floor, including a sizzling 10-of-15 (.667) from three-point.

Roque opened the tournament with 15 points and five assist in a 69-66 setback to Marquette before coming back with a 23 point effort, just two off her career-high, to help CSU snap a three-game losing streak with a 64-58 win over Iona.

Roque hit 7-of-8 three pointers against the Gaels, tying the CSU single game record for three's in a game. She nailed three consecutive three pointers over a four minutes stretch late in the second half, helping to break a tie game and give the Vikings a nine point lead with 1:57 left.

Roque is averaging 12.6 points and 3.8 assists through five contests this season. She ranks third in the conference with a .520 three-point field-goal percentage and fourth with 2.6 threes made per contest.

CSU, 2-3 overall, returns to action on Wednesday (Dec. 2) when the Vikings host Marshall at 7:00 p.m. in the Wolstein Center.
