Women's Golf Stands Fourth At Horizon League Championship

GALENA, Ohio - Butler dominated play on the opening day of the Horizon League championship, carding a two-round total of 655 to stand 27 shots clear of its next-closest challenger. Cleveland State sits in fourth at 711 with 18 holes remaining at the 5,823-yard, par 72 Royal American Links. Youngstown State is in second place at 682, while Loyola is third at 695. Lynnsey Showers turned in two of the day's three rounds in the 70s (76-74) to lead the tournament by 13 strokes at 150. Detroit's Ashley Hamilton is in second place at 163. CSU junior Kristen Obush recovered from an opening round 93 to card an 82 in the afternoon to move up to 11th place. The championship will conclude on Tuesday morning (May 3) beginning at 8:30 a.m., although there is a possibility of play being delayed by frost.
