FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Kristen Obush matched the low round of the day with a 74 to finish in a three-way tie for third at the IPFW Fall Classic. Butler completed its wire-to-wire victory with a comfortable 16-stroke margin, while Cleveland State moved up a spot to sixth in the final standings. The nine-team, 54-hole event was held at the 6,102 yard, par 71 Deer Track Golf Club. Obush trailed by eight shots after 36 holes, but made things interesting with her two-over par 74 in blustery conditions. However, the comeback fell just short as she wound up tied with Oakland's Trish Ellsworth and Youngstown State's Adrianna DiLonardo, just three shots off the pace at 229. Butler's Linnsey Showers held on with a final-round 79, defeating Detroit's Mandi Dupuis by two strokes (226-228). CSU's Ashley Davidson wound up 23rd at 247, while Amanda Glatfelter was tied for 31st at 255. Butler finished at 921 to claim the team title, well ahead of runner-up Oakland, who came in at 937. Youngstown State was third at 950, while the Vikings leapfrogged the host Mastodons to finish sixth at 996. "Kristen had her best ball-striking round of the year," CSU head coach Tom Porten said. "She hit 15 of 18 greens and if she could have gotten a couple of more putts to drop she may have jumped all the way to the top. "We're making good progress as a team, but we're still not as consistent as we need to be. However, I'm encouraged by our performance heading into next week." Cleveland State hits the links again on Oct. 24-25 as the Vikings take part in the Cincinnati Fall Classic at Elk Run GC. Team Scores:
