TEEING OFF: The Vikings will host the inaugural CSU Invitational at the one-day 36-hole event at Pine Hills Golf Course in Hinkley, OH. The CSU Invitational is the first home tournament hosted under the leadership of Head Coach Steve Weir. Cleveland State will be facing Youngstown for the first time this spring. This will be the final tournament for the Vikings before heading to Lexington, KY for the Conference tournament.

LAST TIME OUT: Cleveland State finished fifth of eight teams at the Loyola Invitational. The 36-hole event was played at the 5900-yard par-71 Wilmette Golf Course in Wilmette, IL. Despite pouring rain and cold weather the Vikings shot rounds of 327-320 but fell five shots short of Green Bay and eight shots short of Loyola in the 36-hole event. The team was happy to have Freshmen Brittany Keiter back in the lineup after missing the first three events of the spring season. Junior Katie Broere fired two rounds in the 70's (79-77) to place 7th in the individiual race. Junior Laren Beese also broke into the 70's with a final round 77 for the first time in the spring season.

THE HEAD COACH: In his second season as head coach, Steve Weir is continuing to build and improve the CSU program. In his three years of involvement with the squad, the Vikings have posted two fourth place finishes at the Horizon League Championship, an improvement from the previous year's fifth place finish.

DÉJÀ VU: The Vikings were forced to play the final round of the Winthrop Invitational with just four players after Brittany Keiter withdrew due to a back injury. However, CSU posted its lowest score of the tournament at 342. The same thing happened at the Vikings final fall event, the Austin Peay Invitational, when four players combined to shoot 342-335.

FRESHMAN LEAPS INTO LINEUP: Freshman Brittany Keiter posted two rounds in the 70's in the fall, a feat only accomplished by two other players in CSU history. These rounds have helped contribute to her third lowest scoring average on the team (86.0).

A RECORD BREAKING FALL: The Vikings broke their team scoring record not once but twice during the fall season. The first time occured at the Ball State Fall Classic when CSU carded a 316 only to better that with a score of 315 in the second round at the Marshall Lady Herd Classic.

HOW LOW CAN YOU GO?: Senior Mallory Wyderka and junior Katie Broere are both on the heels of former Viking Kristen Obush's season low scoring average, of 80.5 which was set in 2005-06. Broere leads the team with a 79.1 scoring average, while Wyderka is at 84.6.

HOME COURSE ADVANTAGE: The Vikings will host their first tournament in program history on April 20th at Pine Hills Golf Club in Hinkley, Ohio. The one-day 36-hole event is rare in its format but allows for 36-hole preparation for the Horizon League Championship. Expected competitors include Youngstown State, Bowling Green and Detroit.

UP NEXT: CSU returns to action when the Vikings compete at the Horizon League Championship in Lexington, Ky., from April 25-26.
