PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - Eight different Temple players scored goals, six of which came in the second half, as the Owls broke open a tight match and ran away with an 8-1 decision over Cleveland State on Friday afternoon (Sept. 7).

"I am terribly disappointed with our effort and performance this afternoon," CSU head coach Derrek Falor said. "We are a better team than this."

Temple got on the scoreboard just 13 seconds into the match when Kelly Diviny scored on a breakaway.

Shayna Back evened the match at 1-1 at the 14:22 mark when her cross from the left side beat Temple goalkeeper Kara Williams and found the right corner of the goal. It was the second goal of the season for the senior, who led CSU with seven goals in 2006.

Temple took the lead for good in the 19th minute when Meredith Crowell headed in a Kelly Lare cornerkick.

The Owls poured it on after the break, scoring five times in a 16-minute span to put the match out of reach.

CSU freshman goalkeeper Kelly Zinkiewich made seven saves in goal before being removed in the 61st minute.

The Vikings were outshot, 25-7 in the contest.

Cleveland State (1-3) has little time to regroup, traveling to Delaware State for an 11:00 a.m. match on Sunday (Sept. 9).
