CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati scored two goals in the second half to pull away from Cleveland State, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Gettler Stadium in Cincinnati. Erin MacDonald scored two goals to lead the Bearcats (4-3-1). The Vikings (1-7) have now dropped seven straight matches.

MacDonald's first goal came on an empty net goal off a cross from Melissa Bigg at the 56:25 mark. CSU goalie Erin Withrow came out to intercept the cross, but was a step too late. MacDonald found the back of the net again in the match's 62^nd minute from the top of the box off a pass from Lindsey Noteboom.

Cincinnati's Becky Imhoff scored the game-winner at the 38:55 mark off a rebounded header right in front of a diving Erin Withrow.

"This was a difficult match for us," CSU head coach Derrek Falor said. "Cincinnati is big, quick and extremely athletic. They wore us down."

UC enjoyed a 29-9 advantage in shots and a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.

CSU's best scoring opportunity in the first half came at 34:50 mark when sophomore Natalie Wilson shot a header off freshman Heather Wagner's corner kick. The Bearcats had a good scoring opportunity at the 20:30 mark when Imhoff got free on a break-away but Withrow made the save. Withrow would also stop an Imhoff chance early in the second half, deflecting the shot over the crossbar.

Following UC's third goal at the 61:34 mark, sophomore Ashley Kidwell took over in goal for the Vikings and notched two saves. It was Kidwell's first appearance this season. Withrow had a season-high nine saves before exiting.

Junior Heather Clapacs led the Vikings with four shots. Sophomore Ashley Walchack had two shots.

"I thought we gave good effort and did some nice things in the first half, but we couldn't keep that pace going," Falor said.

The Vikings return home to Krenzler Field on Friday (Sept. 22) to host Indiana State. The match will start at 7:00 p.m.
