CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Missy Boehm, a two-time all-league honoree at Cincinnati's Roger Bacon High, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Cleveland State and play women's soccer beginning in the fall of 2005. Head coach Derrek Falor made the announcement on Friday.

"We are very fortunate that Missy has decided to join the Viking women's soccer program," Falor said. "She's been a key player the last two years for her Ohio Elite club team, which has been one of the best programs in the nation. I think that we've gotten a very special player.

"Missy is one of those players who will succeed at almost any position due to her intelligence, athleticism, and high soccer IQ. She recently has focused on playing forward, which is where she will most likely play at CSU. It is a position where she will give us a physical and explosive presence next fall."

Boehm, a 5-6 forward, was named her team's defensive MVP as a senior last fall. It marked the fourth straight year that she had started in high school. This is also her third year playing for Ohio Elite, which won the U.S. Club National in 2003 and advanced to the finals in 2004.

A member of the National Honor Society at Roger Bacon, Boehm has been on the school's Honor Roll for every quarter during high school. She is interested in majoring in business and marketing.

Boehm becomes the fourth Ohio Elite player to join CSU for next year. She played with Viking signee Lisa Conway (Cincinnati, OH/Anderson) last year and the duo were joined on the team this spring by Natalie Wilson (Amelia, OH/Glen Este) and Erin Withrow (Cincinnati, OH/Glen Este).

Women's soccer debuted as an intercollegiate sport at Cleveland State last fall. The Vikings will begin their second season on Friday, August 26 at Bowling Green.
