Contact: Brian McCann INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Cleveland State University freshmen women's soccer players Heather Clapacs and Amber Rasmussen have each garnered post-season recognition on the various All-Horizon League squads, that were released today by the Horizon League office. Clapacs, a freshman from Willoughby Hills, Ohio, was named to both the All-Horizon League second team and the Horizon League All-Newcomer squad. Rasmussen, who hails from North Bloomfield, Ohio, earned a spot on the all-newcomer team. "I am very happy for both Heather and Amber because these honors recognize the hard work and effort that they, and each of their teammates, put in this fall to allow women's soccer to debut at Cleveland State," CSU head coach Derrek Falor said. Clapacs has been a starter at midfield in all 19 matches this year, leading the team with 38 shots and 18 shots on goal. Rasmussen, who has started all 18 games that she has played in, shares the team lead with four points, scoring one goal with two assists. "Even though this season has not featured a lot of success by this young team, I can see the progress and development that we have made since first getting together as a team in early August," Falor said. "It makes me very optimistic about what we can accomplish in the years to come." "Heather and Amber are two perfect examples of how far the team has come. Both came to campus in August as inexperienced freshmen who had never played a match at this level. Twelve weeks later, you can really notice how they have raised their level of play and emerged as leaders on the field." The Vikings open Horizon League Championship play in Indianapolis, Ind. against regular season champion UW-Milwaukee on Thursday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Butler's Kuntz Stadium. 2004-05 All-Horizon League Team Women's Soccer Team First Team Second Team All-Newcomer Team Coach of the Year Player of the Year Newcomer of the Year
