INDIANAPOLIS -- Cleveland State junior Kelly Hysong has been selected as the Horizon League Player of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday.
Hysong led the Vikings at the Jacksonville/North Florida Spring Break Challenge by batting .476 and posting a .905 slugging percentage.
Hysong was 10-for-21 in five games and had three doubles, two home runs and drove in three runs. She also scored four times and had at least one hit in all five games.
She went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in the Vikings 9-4 victory over La Salle and then scored the winning run on a Riley Ries double in the eighth inning of CSU's 2-1 victory against Jacksonville.
Hysong also picked up two wins in the circle, including going 8.0 innings and allowing just one run in the win versus Jacksonville.
Hysong is the first Vikings player to be honored by the league this season and is the first CSU player to win the award since Mackenzie Joecken was named the Horizon League Player of the Week on March 19 of last season.
College Sports Madness also selected Hysong as the Horizon League Player of the Week.
