The returning starter at third base, Natalie DeMatteis learned a lot about the offensive part of the collegiate softball game and is poised to make greater offensive contributions during her final season as a Viking, though it may occur across the diamond at second base in order to take better advantage of her defensive skills up the middle.
2008 - JUNIOR SEASON
Starter in all 44 games she played...hit .211 with 26 hits, four doubles and five RBI...went 3-for-3 with an RBI vs. James Madison (2/15) and 3-for-5 vs. Rider (3/14)...tallied two doubles in a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI vs. Detroit (4/10)...recorded two RBI in 2-for-3 performance vs. Wright State (5/9)...three-game hit streak from 5/4 to 5/9.
PRE-CLEVELAND STATE
Played two seasons at Mercyhurst North East...two-time first team all-conference selection...National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American first team as a freshman...holds career batting average record (.532), hits (107), and runs (73).
