INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Cleveland State junior pitcher Amanda Macenko, who posted a 3-1 record and a 0.68 ERA in five games last week, has been named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week. The announcement was made by the league office on Tuesday. The award is the ninth of Macenko's career, the second-highest total in league history and one short of the league-record of 10 set by UIC's Samantha Iuli. "Amanda had another great week on the mound," CSU head coach Angie Nicholson said. "She really struggled at the start of the season because of an illness that lasted for over a month, but now that she is feeling better, she has been as dominent as ever in the circle." Macenko, a native of Brunswick, Ohio, threw 31 innings last week, striking out 44 with only four walks and five runs allowed (three earned). In a league series against Green Bay, Macenko was 2-1 with a 1.00 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 21 innings. She is 11-8 on the season with a 3.17 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 121.1 innings. The three victories last week raised her career total to 63, the second highest total in school history and five wins short of the school record. Cleveland State hosts Niagara for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday (April 2).
