CLEVELAND, OH-

The Cleveland State women's swimming and diving team took on Canisius and Butler Friday, October 31, 2008. The women finished the meet winning seven of the nine individual events on their way to a 159-58 victory over Butler and a 140-93 win over Canisius.

"We are beginning to get people back from injury and we are getting better as a team," said head coach Wally Morton. "We stepped up and swam very well against two tough teams tonight."

In her first collegiate meet, Brittany Tweardy posted a season best time of 25:20 in the 50 freestyle. Runner-up finish went to Kristina Nagy with a time of 25:47.

Carys Behn set a new season high in the 500 freestyle posting a time of 5:06:79. She also won the 1000 freestyle (10:28:06), the 200 IM(2:11:75)

Behn now holds the second place marks at Cleveland State in both the 1000 and 500 freestyle.

Other winners included Emily Splain (200 freestyle), Katie Bellew (100 Yard Butterfly) and Kristina Nagy (100 freestyle).

Runner up finishes went to Erin Green (2:03:66) and Sandra Bunker (2:06:41) in the 200 freestyle.

Kacey Cummings took first place in the 1-meter diving event with a total score of 256.50.

 

 

"Butler was a big conference win for us tonight. It was a good stepping stone going into the St. Bonaventure meet."

The Vikings are back in action Saturday, November 1 as they travel to St. Bonaventure, N.Y.
